String Theatre

The String Theater was founded in 1983 by Messíana Tómasdóttir. The first projet was The Blue Girl, a music- and puppet play without words. Ever since than the String Theatre has commisioned and premiered contemporary music, mainly operas. The String Theatre uses masks and puppets in undtraditional ways with emphasis on the visual side of the performance along with music.Many of The String Theatre’s productions have been aimed especially at children and teenagers. The theatre is therefore focusing on artistic upbringing and publishes learning materials in connection with its productions.
