Iceland Dance Company - Artistic director

Iceland Dance Company seeks to appoint an Artistic Director for a temporary period of one year. The Artistic Director leads the dance company artistically and moulds its artistic direction, in cooperation with the Managing Director and the Board of IDC. The position of Artistic Director answers to the Managing Director of IDC. Among responsibilities of the Artistic Director is to lead the company and its dancers in their artistic work, participate in the running of the company and seek out funding opportunities for its projects. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an ample knowledge and experience in the field of dance. S/he must have a connection with the international world of dance, be able to demonstrate a creative and strategic mind and an experience in implementing new policies, as well as good personal and language skills, both in written and spoken communication. Iceland Dance Company is an independent stage agency. Its role is to showcase dance, promote domestic creativity in the field of modern dance, and provide a platform for the continuous development of dance in Iceland. The focus of IDC is to introduce Icelandic audiences to ambitious works and the most important choreographers in modern dance. In recent years the work of Iceland Dance Company has received wide-spread international reputation and recognition. IDC regularly participates in various collaborative projects, both domestically and internationally. Iceland Dance Company is based at the Reykjavik City Theatre. Salary is according to the official agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the respective Trade Union.
