The artistic director of the Iceland Dance Company resigns

Lára Stefánsdóttir, the artistic director of Iceland Dance Company, has left the company. She has been the artistic director of the company since fall 2012.

Lára is one of Iceland's most experienced choreographers. Stefánsdóttir started her ballet studies at the age of 7 and graduated from the Icelandic National Theatre School of Ballet in 1980. She did further dance training in Kuopio, Dresden, Cologne and Copenhagen. She worked as a dancer with The Iceland Dance Company since 1980 – 2004 and danced many leading roles. From 2009 until 2012 Stefánsdóttir was the director of Iceland National Ballet School and on August 1st 2012 she was appointed as the artistic director of Iceland Dance Company.
