Nominations for Griman, Icelandic Theatre awards,have been announced

Nominations for the Griman awards, the Icelandic Theatre awards, were announced in the City Theatre on 6th of June 2011. 80 performances were eligible for nomination this year, which were viewed by Griman´s professional committees.

There is also the Audience Award of the Year, which will be awarded to the show that audiences vote to be their favourite. Internet voting took place on www.visir.is. The shows that got most voted this year are:

Gói and the Tindersticks staged by Baunagrasið and Reykjavík City Theatre, The Housewife staged by Vesturport and Reykjavík City Theatre, Out of Order staged by Leikfélag Reykjavíkur and Reykjavík City Theatre, Rocky Horror staged by Leikfélag Akureyrar and Shockheaded Peter staged by Leikfélag Reykjavíkur and Reykjavík City Theatre. 

Telephone voting for the Audience Awards 2011 will start a few days before the Griman Awards and theatre lovers are encouraged to call in and vote for their favourite show of the year. 

The Griman Awards will be held on Thursday the 16th of June and broadcasted live on Channel 2. The broadcast will start at 19:30.
