Nordic Performing Arts Days August 23rd — 26th 2012

Performing Arts Iceland is the host of the DAYS held in close collaboration with Iceland's partners within the Nordic Theatre Union as well as with other strategic partners in the Nordic countries.

The DAYS are a reinvention of the former Nordic Theatre Days and hopefully the first step in creating strong bi-annual joint DAYS of the whole Nordic performing arts community.

The DAYS in Reykjavik will focus on the the theme of THE CREATOR in the performing arts and will celebrate and focus on the creative and versatile spirit we experience within Nordic performing arts today.

The events of the DAYS:
The first stop of the Nordic Drama Prize Train. Readings of five pre-selected Nordic plays open to the public hosted at the National Theatre of Iceland. The Train replaces the Nordic Drama Prize and will give 5 selected Nordic playwrights and their selected work a wide exposure. The train will be ignited in Reykjavik with further train stops during season 2012 — 2013 in the four other Nordic countries.

Laboratories for young performing artists. Laboratories will be led by renowned experts from the Nordic countries, mainland Europe and the US. Call for applications for participation will open in April 2012

Meeting point events The DAYS will organize opportunities for artists and directors to meet and discuss. This will be done by means of formal "speed dating events" as well as informal get-to-ethers.

Key note panels focusing on the place of performing arts in politics and current events.

Forum on future collaborations in Nordic Performing Arts and beyond

Over twenty artistic events produced by our two collaborating festivals, Lokal, international theatre festival and Reykjavík Dance festival. Lokal- international theatre festival will offer 10 Icelandic and European performing arts productions, three of which will be world premieres. Reykjavik Dance Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
