  • Production type:
  • Excerpts from reviews:

“An underlying irony, repugnancy and dark humor was Yes dear main strenght. Even in the most tragic scenes the audience smiled, even laughed which brought up more comtemplating thoughts about the piece; i.e. not facing the real context, circumstances or conflicts. The audience was given the freedom to fill in the blanks. The stage was well used and the scene breaks well performed. Yes dear is a dance performance well recommended.”

        • What is it?: Yes dear, The constructs of families by Steinunn Ketilsdóttir How do families function and what does it mean to be dysfunctional? How and why do we alter and adjust ourselves in our interactions with our loved ones? Where do we draw the line and how far will we go? Yes dear is the latest work from noted icelandic choreographer Steinunn Ketilsdóttir. in this work Steinunn takes on a new approach by creating an evening-long group piece. Her unique choreographic language, infused with expression and light-hearted cynicism, lends itself to a physical and abstract exploration examining the constructs of families. Steinunn collaborates on Yes dear with a group of seven prominent dancers and actors, composer Sólrún Sumarliðadóttir of Amiina, and visual artist Jóní Jónsdóttir of the icelandic love Corporation. together, they dissect, twist, and distort universal family themes and taboos, expose the unsaid and reveal the layers of emotions beneath the surface.
