  •  What is it?
  • Eyvindur of the Mountains by Jóhann Sigurjónsson is one of Icelands best known plays and a classic in Icelandic litterature. It was premiered in 1911 and is based on a true story of Eyvindur the thief that escaped with his wife Halla to the remote highlands where they became outlaws for twenty years. Eyvindur of the Mountains is one of the most powerful love stories of Icelandic theatre, a tale of big sacrifices and great love and speaks to us as much today as it did 100 years ago. The performance of Eyvindur of the Mountains by the theatre group Always the Thief is untraditional and moving where the play is reconstructed, using an old radio recording of it, choreography and a minimalistic setting and lighting. The naked essence of the play and the work of the actor becomes the main focus, using fresh and original approach that shakes every emotion in your body.
